The "Parish Senior Ministry" at Blessed Sacrament Church serves the homebound and those who are alone or in nursing homes, by ministering to their spiritual and material needs. Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick visit and bring the Eucharist. Other volunteers provide transportation, as needed, to church, grocery shopping , and Dr.'s appointments. Volunteers are also called upon for medical emergencies, when in the absence of family members, quick action is needed and appropriate decisions need to be made. Support on a "day-to-day" basis is given through contact by telephone to insure that the safety and daily needs of the seniors are being satisfied. By working with such agencies as Catholic Charities and Social Services, other support services can be activated to include placement, if necessary, in group homes, assisted living or nursing homes.
