Outreach

  • The pantry is open every Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m.  All are welcome!

  • Food baskets containing all the "fixings" for a traditional dinner including turkeys donated by the parishioners are distributed by the Food Pantry to clients at Thanksgiving.

  • Homeless. This is a daily ministry that focuses on the people living in the streets. We use the gift cards from the Giving Tree to give them a chance to go into a restaurant and get warm/dry and have something hot to eat. At Christmas we also collected warm socks and gloves to give to them. We also keep a supply of jeans, socks and shirts on hand and have purchased sneakers/boots. The donations from the St. Anthony Bread for the Poor baskets in the church help to fund this ministry. The food pantry prepares special bags of food for them that we give out daily.   This is projected to double since the city closed the day Shelter.

  • Saint Anne's Closet is open the first and second Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Good, clean, slightly used children's clothing is distributed free to those in need.

  • Shoes for Kids program provides new shoes, boots and winter jackets to children referred by agencies, shelters, and schools in the area. The program also responds to requests from parents.

  • This drive, held every August, collects backpacks, notebooks, calculators, pens, pencils, art supplies, etc., for children living in shelters and those referred by agencies.  Extra school supplies are donated to Bakersville and Jewett Street schools and others based on need and quantity collected.

  • The Christmas party is hosted annually for children whose families are registered with St. Anthony's Food Pantry and St. Anne's Closet and for children living in shelters.  The children play games, enjoy a lunch, listen to the story of Christmas and receive a gift provided by the parish.

  • For the first Sunday of Advent, a tree is decorated with ornaments requesting parishioners to purchase gift cards for fast food restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, gas station ns, etc.  The cards help meet the immediate needs of people who come to the door on a daily basis, seeking help throughout the year.
